Online Code Editor - Mozilla Bespin
A Mozilla Labs project that surfaced last week is a really cool web based editor called Bespin. It’s written in Python (and Java) with a shed load of Javascript and, a really interesting point is that, they have actually used the HTML5 Canvas element to make the editor nice and fast.
They’ve got a live demo up and running for anyone who is interested and wants to try it out or if you’re interested in installing it yourself and getting a local copy then there’s a simple tutorial out there to help you do just that (or you could just checkout the README.txt).
There’s some potential here in terms of collaboration, as they mention in the introduction video, but as far as a replacement for the desktop editor, which I think is what is trying to be achieved here, I think they are up against some stiff competition.
I’m loving the Javascript plug-ins though.
